If you want to use personalized content in your mailing, you can take advantage of personalization fields to do so. With personalization fields, you can implement salutations, for example, (Dear Mr. Miller) or whole blocks of text for each recipient individually. For new accounts, some personalization fields such as first name, last name, etc. are already set up. You can add any number of additional fields.
Creating personalization fields
To create new personalization fields, in the main menu, click on “recipients”, and then click on the personalization fields tab. When you create a new field, you are asked for the field type. The choices are:
- Text (no line breaks)
- Text (with line breaks)
- Yes/No (either/or question)
In general, you should always use “text” (without line breaks).
Importing address details with personalization fields
In your import file (e.g. Excel), make sure that the values for each personalization field are aligned in a column. In addition, the values should not include spaces, special characters and so on since these can cause errors when importing.

Personalization fields can be easily added to a mailing using our editor. When editing a text, you will see a drop-down personalization field box in the upper part of the screen. Select the appropriate field. Clicking on the field automatically inserts it into the text below. Personalization fields are always surrounded with $$ characters in the text.
More uses for personalization fields
Personalization fields can also be used for the subject line, sender name and “reply to” address. The personalization field name is also surrounded by $$ characters here (e.g. $$sender name$$).
Personalization fields and Opt-In messages
Personalization fields can also be used in the body and subject of the opt-in emails. There you can enter the name of the personalization field, which is likewise enclosed in $$ characters (e.g. $$First Name$$).
